Self-reviews can be a valuable tool for personal reflection and development, but there are cases where organizations choose not to include them in the final outcomes of a performance review campaign. Below are some common reasons why a self-review may be excluded from the final evaluation results:
- To reduce bias in the overall evaluation results: Self-assessments can sometimes be overly generous or overly critical. Excluding them helps ensure the final results are based on more objective, external perspectives.
- To focus on external feedback: If the campaign’s objective is to collect feedback from others, self-reviews may be excluded to emphasize how others perceive the employee’s performance and behaviours.
- When used solely for personal reflection: Sometimes, self-reviews are intended as a development exercise rather than an input to the final evaluation. In this case, the self-review helps the employee reflect on their progress without influencing the final results.
To exclude the self-review from the final results of a review follow the steps described below:
- Go to your Performance section and click on Reviews & Check-ins.
- Next, access to your Templates tab and click on the New campaign button.
- You will be redirected to the first step of the review creation process, click on the Advanced settings button that will appear at the bottom of your screen.
- Enable the Exclude Self-review results in the final results calculations option. The option will be saved automatically.
This configuration is now saved in your review campaign configuration set up and everything that it is required to do is finish up the review campaign set up. See here a step by step guide on how to do it.
