Perform Review & Check-in campaigns allow you to evaluate one person according to their competences and performance, but they also allow you to evaluate their alignment with your company values among many other things.
Nailted offers you a number of default Review templates that you can choose from, these being the following:
- 6 Months evolution and goals: Ask about what people have accomplished in the last 6 months and how they expect to grow in the next 6.
- Satisfaction in the current position: Find out if the team is comfortable with their current position, team and conditions.
- Person - company alignment: Help managers do a better job by running a feedback session. Run a campaign to collect and send them feedback from their direct reports.
- Report to manager feedback: Help managers to improve their job with this feedback. Create this campaign to ask for feedback to their direct team.
- 360 Feedback - Generic: It provides feedback to employees on the most important skills, such as: career development, communication, accountability or teamwork, among others, this will allow them to detect improvement opportunities.
How to create a custom Review & Check-in template
- Go to your Performance section and select Reviews & Check-ins. Next, click on the Templates tab that you will find at the upper right corner of your screen.

Next, click on the Create template button where you will be able to create your template by using one of the creation options available:
- Wizard normal mode: By choosing this mode you will be able to create your template autonomously as it gathers the most common configuration options.
- Wizard advanced mode: This mode allows to add to the template more complexity as it provides more options. As it is a more complex editing mode direct support from our Customer Success team is provided for using it.

If you choose to create your template following the Wizard normal mode, you will find the following options:

You can add the title for your review template and also its description.
💡By clicking on the EN/ESP icon you will be able to add the title and description in different languages.

By enabling the Include values and/or competency questions button you will be able to link your company values and competencies to the review questions. Set the scale that you want to use following the steps described below:
- Click on the dropdown selector where you will be able to choose the default numeric scale 0-10 or create a personalized one by clicking on the Manage scales button. A new window will open.

Click on the Add new scale button. Give it a name and select the scale size: 3-options scale, 4-options scale or 5-options scale. Next, add the scale labels and when ready click on the Save button.
💡By clicking on the EN/ESP icon you will be able to add the labels in different languages. - It is possible to customize the legend that will be displayed in the competence assessment matrix by clicking on the three dots icon that appears next to the newly created scale and next on the Edit result schema button. You can change the scale labels and the results ranges.

Once you have created your scale, go back to the template creation window and select it. It will be applied to all the questions related with values or competences on the template.
💡 Scales can be consulted and modified by clicking on the Manage scales button. -
If your review will have different topics, it is possible that you would like to add Sections to have the topics separated. To create different sections click on the Configure sections button.

Add the Section Title and the Section description. Once ready, click on the Save button.

In the case that you have configured your competencies to affect a person’s potential, performance or both, it is possible to customize what metrics are displayed on each axis on your 9-box by clicking on the Configure 9-box button. A new window will open, where you can select which metric will be used to calculate the 9-box in each axis between the available options:
- AVG of Performance Competencies: When selected it takes into account the average score of all the competences that have been assigned to Performance in the person’s career path.
- AVG of Potential Competences: When selected it extracts the average score of all the competences that have been assigned to a person’s potential in the career path.
- AVG of goals: When selected it takes into account the average of the score that the manager has provided when evaluating the accomplishment of the goals assigned to that person.
Add a personalized label to each axis for fully customizing the 9-box to your organization culture. Finally, click on the Save configuration button to save all your changes.
Questions
In this section you will be able to compose your questions following a structure:

What kind of question do you want to ask?: Here, you can select the type of question, which determines the possible answers from the options below:

- Numeric scale 0-10: When this option is chosen, a numeric scale between 0 and 10 will be shown as a response to the question.
- Personalized scale: When this option is selected, the personalized scale that was created in previous steps will be applied to the question.
- Long text (min 50 characters): The participant will see a free text box where the minimum number of characters will be 50.
- Short text (min 10 characters) : A text box will be displayed where the minimum number of characters will be 10.
- Values: When this option is selected, the question will be linked to one of the company values that we will select on the dropdown that will appear.
- Competences: When this option is selected, a new dropdown will appear for you to select the competence that you want this question to be associated with.
- ⚠️ Company values and competences must be added to Nailted prior starting the review template creation process.

- What would you like to evaluate?: This section will gather the questions that will be visible by the participants.
- Assign to section?: If you have created sections, through this selector you will be able to assign in which section this question will appear when review participants access the review.
💡When using sections, all the questions in the template need to be assigned to one section.
- Description: This optional field is used to give further information and context regarding the asked question.
💡If you have selected a competence question, the levels description for that competence added into the career path will automatically be displayed.

Who do you want to perform this review?: Here you can choose the direction of the question, this means, to whom the question will be done (it is possible to choose one or multiple options):
- Self
- Manager
- Peer
- Direct report

You can select if you would would like to have an explanation after the answer by selecting one of the options that appear under the Would you like an explanation after the answer section:
- Yes, mandatory: An explanation needs to be provided supporting the scale answer to finish the review process.
- Yes, optional: An optional explanation can be added.
- No: It is not necessary to provide any further explanation to the question.
- Customize per each scale button: You can select the comment behaviour of each point of the scale.
- If you want that this question is required to be answered, enable the Required question button.
- On occasions, the employee may not have enough context to be able to answer a question, by enabling the Skippable question button, they will be able to carry on with their review process although that questions haven’t been answered.
Add all your questions and when ready click on the Continue button.
Review & sort
This section allows you to personalize your questions order using the arrows that appear next to each question.
Besides, here you can customize your questions according to their different directions as the self-review questions should appear in the 1st person singular, as they are asked to one-self, and the rest of directions in the 3rd person singular as people are being asked about another person. You will be able to make these changes by clicking on the pencil icon that appears next to each question.
Customize
This section will allow you to customize further your template allowing you to:
- Include goal questions: By activating this option each manager will have some questions to evaluate the progress of each participant's goals that have been added into Nailted. These questions will count towards the final review score.
- Include quotas: It will help you to limit the number of top performers by selecting the maximum or minimum percentage of participants in each results schema.
Finally, click on the Save button to save your review template. All administrators with access to the Review & Check-ins section will be able to make changes to the template at any time by clicking on the 3 dots icon and selecting the Manage template versions where you will be able to see all the different versions of the template. To edit it, click again on the three dots icon and select the Edit template button.
