Managers sharing information from 1:1 meetings with the People Department is essential for tracking employee development, ensuring accurate performance management, and proactively addressing issues. This practice also supports legal compliance, effective workforce planning, and aligns individual goals with organizational objectives. Moreover, it reinforces a positive workplace culture, contributing to a more engaged and productive team. For all these reasons, from Nailted we encourage you to always share any relevant information with administrators through the usage of the notes section within the 1:1 meetings.
What type of notes can you find in a 1:1 meeting?
The main objective of 1:1 meetings is to foster open communication between a manager and the employee, being important to keep a record of what was discussed during the meeting. This meeting notes can be kept through the Notes section that has three different type of notes:
- Shared notes: These notes are visible by both participants in the meeting in order to record all the information that is discussed during the meeting. These notes will only be visible by the 1:1 meeting participants.
💡The system will mark who was the person that introduced the notes into the platform.
- Private notes: This type of note is only visible by the author and cannot be seen by the other participants in the meeting. There are two types of private notes:
- Visible only for me: These notes are typically used to write down information that we want to deal with prior to the meeting or to record anything we want to make sure to discuss at our next meeting. They are 100% private and only visible by the author.
- Shared with my company: This section is for sharing any information that the 1:1 meeting creator or manager wants to share with account administrators of what has been discussed. This allows for the People or Human Resources department to follow-up the progress.
If you would like to share the notes with a mentor, for example, you will be able to do it by clicking on the Configure visibility button and choosing the person with whom you want to share the notes with.
💡The notes shared with my company will appear also when completing a 1:1 meeting, in case you would like to add further information to be shared with the organization.
Tracking 1:1 meeting notes will provide you with consistent documentation, will improve actions accountability, therefore supporting a personalized employee development.
